Oak Pool House: Perched on the cliff, above Start Bay in south Devon, the bespoke green oak poolhouse catches the morning sun. Wrapped around the east and south sides an undulating oak deck billows into coastal meadow planting. The forms silvered and crisp in the winter, and starched and warm in the summer, lead the view to the horizon. The planting has been beautifully evolved by Duncan Nuttall Nuttallgardens.co.uk

The coastal garden rolls down to the sea. A limited palette, full of muscularity and tones from the cliff edge, with reflection from the sea and seaweed textures. Movement and the shimmer of light create a surging mass through which narrow paths weave. Immersion within the planting and resurfacing at cliff edge destinations, structured the plantscape. Compression and darkness are relieved by openings into light and air. Walking through the space, you feel shrunk; briefly in an otherworldly moment. Dartmoor Arts and Crafts Manor. In under six months the garden has established well. The hard landscaping has already started to weather, newly dressed stone is quickly darkening. The planting is based upon a woodland palatte of green, highlighted with seasonal interest. Multi stem trees struture the space, letting the surrounding woodland approach the Manor.

Devon country garden. The art of garden construction, Rural Stonework and Landscapes floating in some large York stones. To keep our footprint light, we are laying on dry recycled aggregate, held with a light mortar pour, and then lime pointed. Searching for a bag of cement on site, usually ends in vain, great work by the boys.
