Conrad Batten is a landscape and garden designer based in the South Hams, Devon. He does bespoke, experimental garden designs, concientious to the ecology and context of place, and the individual enjoyment of the client. He combines known styles, whether cottage, formal, prairie, contemporary, or mediterranean, with his inspiration and the personality of the client, leading to a dynamic collaborative design process. His garden design practice in Devon fuses an arts/anthropology background with his interest in sustainable ecology, creating spaces which have a natural aesthetic and form, giving meaning and contentment to the client. These spaces which have balance, rhythm, and flow, are innovative and enduring.

Conrad explores an ecology of space and plants with the theory of forest gardening, whereby plants work together transferring nutrients, creating a sustainable environment, with low human input. Garden designs are artistically and plant driven creating structure and form from the clients wishes and dreams.

A mature Olive grove planted in Devon, England, as part of a 4 acre mediterranean productive garden.
A cliff top coastal garden in South Devon, where naturalistic mass phormium plantings fuse with the texture and form of the surrounding coastline.
